Team USA’s Dan Smith (GPI#49) was honored last Friday as the Global Poker Index hosted the inaugural #AmericanPokerAwards at the luxurious SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis presented Smith with a personalized timepiece for finishing 2014 ranked #1 on the GPI World Poker Rankings. Smith spent the better part of the second half of 2014 holding the #1 spot in the world.

Smith will be one of four players to ever hold the #1 rank to participate in the Global Poker Masters later this month in Malta. He will anchor a strong US team that includes current World Top 10 Bryn Kenney (GPI#6).
