You can call them the “Power Trio”. Team USA confirms that former World #1 Dan Smith (GPI#5), Bryn Kenney (GPI#6) and Jacob Schindler (GPI#7) will play the Global Poker Masters. The US will be the only team fielding a trio of players currently ranked in the GPI World Poker Rankings Top 10.
Smith is the first of current or former World #1’s to confirm his attendance for the GPM. Smith recently ended a 19-week run at #1. Currently, Team Germany’s Ole Schemion and Marvin Rettenmaier are the other two #1’s to have received invitations to play in poker’s World Cup.
Kenney is currently one of the hottest players on the circuit, scoring points in several major events in the past few months, including yesterday when he finished third in the first big event on the 2015 poker calendar, the $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller at the PCA in the Bahamas … Schindler, Team USA’s other confirmed participant, finished 9th in Super High Roller.
