Team Canada’s Sorel Mizzi looks for “home field advantage” in Malta

GPI World Top 10 player Sorel Mizzi (GPI#9) is the latest star to be added to Team Canada for the Global Poker Masters.

The Canadian is one player who will certainly be hoping that the poker fans in Malta will be pulling for him and his nation at the GPM in March. Mizzi is of Maltese descent may very well give Canada the “home field advantage” since Malta will not have a team player in the inaugural Masters.

The former World #3 is already a front-runner to lead the 2015 GPI Player of the Year race once the first PoY rankings are released on January 21st. Mizzi started off the year earning a final four finish in the $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller event at the 2015 PCA and followed that up by finishing 7th in the $5K NLH Turbo 8-Handed event, earning over 540 points already this season.

Mizzi’s latest success saw become the latest player to join an elite group of players with $10,000,000 in career winnings. He has 13 wins and 52 Top 10 finishes in his 8-year career on the live tournament circuit.
