It’s simple really. Dan Smith (GPI#1) is in total control of his own destiny heading into the final month of the poker season. Smith holds a respectable lead in the both the GPI300 and GPI Player of the Year races and it certainly looks locks he should be a lock to make Team USA and challenge all other comers at the Global Poker Masters in March.
The only caveat? Smith has decided to take a little time off from the live tournament circuit, choosing to spend a little time in Austin, Texas. With the competition so fierce in the States, one can only hope that Smith is still in total control once he returns to the circuit.
