Two players who represented their Nations at the GPI Poker World Cup last March in Malta, Italian star Mustapha Kanit (GPI#54) and French Pro Paul Tedeschi (GPI#295), each picked up winning trophies at the EPT Barcelona Festival which concluded over the weekend.
Kanit, who’s victory over Russia’s Vladimir Troyanovskiy (GPI#63) secured the Cup for Italy, won the record-shattering High Roller event in Barcelona, three months after winning the Super High Roller event at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo. In May, Kanit won the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Main Event … Mr. Kanit is certainly enjoying his summer!
For Tedeschi, his win in Limit Hold’em Event #51 earns his a third title this season AND third for his young career on the circuit. Tedeschi, who is in danger of dropping from the GPI300 for the first time since June 2014, also has prelim event victories at WPT National Cyprus and EPT Malta this season.
Sylvain Loosli (GPI#55) surpassed Benjamin Pollak (GPI#61) on the GPI National France charts last Wednesday, but that lead may soon evaporate, at least in the French National PoY race, as Pollak was right back in the winner’s circle over the weekend, winning the final 5K Turbo event at the Barcelona Festival. Pollak, who was unable to play the 2015 GPI Poker World Cup due to contractual reasons, should once again be eligible to play for France in 2016, should his country qualify for the upcoming competition.
